TLA Milestone: Lighting Project Manager Katrina Lopez Celebrates 5 Year Anniversary

Oct 9, 2023 | News & Events, Team TLA

TLA is a family-owned and operated business, and we’ve been in Denver since day one when we opened our doors in 1980. We’re lucky to have incredible team members who’ve joined TLA on this journey!

Like Katrina, who started her career at TLA and has been with us ever since! Join us in celebrating her 5-year milestone by learning a little more about her.

What was your path to TLA?

My mom, actually! Some of you already know this story! I was looking for a job, and she knew that TLA was hiring a receptionist…perfect timing. She helped me get an interview, and I was hired shortly after.

I was so nervous to start because this was my first “big girl job.” But, within 9 months, I had already moved up into the Quotes department, and then last year, I joined our Lighting Project Management team.

What do you like to do when you’re not working?

I’m a big family & friends girly. When I am not at work, I am usually spending time with my boyfriend, my friends, and my family enjoying the outdoors, watching our favorite sports teams, and traveling.

During the spring/summer seasons, I enjoy playing co-ed softball. I have met some of my best friends through the sport and it’s such a fun activity to keep me young!

I also recently joined the TLA volleyball team—I am definitely not a volleyball star, but I will for sure be playing again next year… if they let me!

What stands out from your time at TLA?

Learning. Every day I learn something new, and I love that about this industry. When I started, I had no idea what The Lighting Agency did, all I knew was that lights were involved… and now here I am.

It’s given me the opportunity to see my personal development and growth over the years.

What is it about TLA that makes people want to stick around?

Being so young when I first started, I didn’t know what to expect. But, from day one, the loyalty was clear, and I think others feel the same when I say this: it’s that TLA genuinely cares about their employees and values their input.

I have never experienced a workplace with so much support and teamwork as TLA offers, and that’s something you don’t find often.
