Controls Quotes Manager Aaron Franks celebrates 10-year anniversary at The Lighting Agency

Rob Pries, TLA Senior Associate and Controls Manager, shared his thoughts on this meaningful milestone:

“Aaron started his career at TLA in the lighting quotes department but was very interested in learning more about controls. After a few tense negotiations, we were able to sweep him up and make him a ‘Control-Freak.’ That was a good day for us in the controls department!

As I look back on Aaron’s 10-year journey with TLA, I can reflect on the incredible transformation he’s undergone—from a fresh CU Arch-E college graduate to a devoted husband, proud father, and now a skilled department manager.

Aaron’s path has been one of growth, resilience, and commitment to excellence. TLA is lucky to have such an energetic and bright leader on our team!”

Join us in recognizing this major career milestone for Aaron by getting to know more about him.

What was your path to TLA?

I reconnected with my old classmate, Will Cobb. We both graduated from CU Boulder’s Architectural Engineering program (with a lighting emphasis, no less!).

He mentioned a career opportunity that sounded like a perfect fit for both my skills and interests.

What do you like to do when you’re not working?

Colorado native here, loving life with my family. My two-year-old son Jack keeps me on my toes, and my wonderful wife Haley keeps me smiling!

When I’m not playing lacrosse, I’m hiking 14ers with my Golden Retriever by my side.

Share a favorite memory from your 10 years at TLA

Gleaning knowledge from some of the original TLA employees, Art Fisher, Mike Barbalacci, and Bob Bullock, will always be valuable to me.

Some of my favorite fun, extracurricular memories are the TLA ski trips. They were always great days spent cruising runs with groups of 20-30 people.

What is your favorite thing about your job?

This field is the perfect blend of architecture and engineering, like art meeting science. Every project brings a fresh set of challenges, keeping things interesting.

The best part is seeing my designs come to life as I drive through the city, leaving a tangible mark on the ever-evolving urban landscape. It’s an incredibly rewarding feeling.

What is it about TLA that stands the test of time?

TLA has been my home since graduation, and for good reason. It’s a fantastic place that merges the creative and technical sides.

The ownership and management allow you to manifest your dreams of building a career and a family. The people here are genuine and want to take care of you so that you can grow as an employee, husband, father, and person.

That’s why I’m looking forward to the next 10 years!
